VISITORS: The Camporee is a “closed event.” No visitors are allowed, unless they have been cleared at least a week ahead of time by the Youth department for the safety of our Pathfinders. We want to confirm that every adult who is on camp has been approved by Sterling Volunteers.
ANIMALS: NO pets are allowed at the Camporee. Thank you for understanding and taking care of this before you come to Camporee.
CAMPSITE PLANNING:
• Camp sites will not be assigned, it is first come-first serve, you can choose where you would like to stay. One exception is that the largest club will have the large site reserved for them. • All vehicles must park on asphalt or graveled areas ONLY! Never parks on the ground or grass. • All sites have electricity, water, picnic table, fire ring • RV dump station available nearby • 2 bath houses are available throughout the camp, plus 3 additional restrooms • PLEASE, BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD! You must take unused firewood home. GOLDEN COOKIE AWARD: Sabbath after church, Pastor Edward Marton and friends will be trying the cookie from different clubs. If you would like him to try your COOKIE, let us know.
THEME DISPLAYED AT CAMPSITES: The Camporee theme, “Believe the Promise”, is to be displayed creatively at each club’s campsite. (Points for your display will be given at Campsite Inspection.) Please make this mobile so you can bring it with you in the parade on Sabbath morning to the worship service
DIRECTIONS FROM NASHVILLE: Go I-40 East to Carthage/Gordonsville exit 258 . Turn towards Carthage on Hwy 53 until you get to Hwy 25 and follow it to Hwy 80. DO NOT take Hwy 263 if you are in an RV or pulling a trailer. It's a very narrow road that goes over a mountain, no shoulder. Take Hwy. 80, a better road, no mountain, same travel time. Follow Hwy 80 approx. 2.5 miles to Hwy 85 to campground turnoff. Detailed directions emailed to your club director.
ATTIRE:
• Friday – Pathfinder related shirt (save club shirt for Sabbath afternoon) • Sabbath Morning – Class-A Dress Uniform (until lunch). • Sabbath Afternoon & Night – Field Uniform (club, district, or TLT T-shirt) • Sunday Morning. - Another pathfinder/conference related shirt, if they can • Please be sure that the kids bring WARM clothing too! Extra sweatshirts would be good! Days will be warm and the nights can get quite cool. • Make sure Pathfinders bring extra socks. Kids need to sleep in clean, DRY socks at night or NO socks. The ones they wear all day will keep their feet cold. Being on the lake, the evenings can be very damp and sometimes quite cool. CELL PHONES: There is limited to no cell phone reception. Plan accordingly.
FIRES AND SAFETY:
• Fires shall be built only in the fire rings and not be left unattended! Unused firewood must be taken home! No exceptions!! • A shovel, bucket of water, and/or fire extinguisher shall be kept at your cooking area. • Operation of gas stoves shall be carried out only by staff or older Pathfinder members. • Stove fuel shall be stored away from heat and flame. DEPARTURE PROCEDURES:
• Remember Pathfinder policy: Leave the campground BETTER than we found it. “If it doesn’t grow there, it doesn’t go there, pick it up”! • Haul all garbage in tied garbage bags to appropriate garbage containers. • Check out with Area Coordinator in order to receive camporee patches |
