First Aid Relay

Participants:            

Equipment:              




Procedure:
Nine (9) Pathfinders per team


Six (6) triangular bandages*
Two (2) safety pins (optional)
Judge for each team (who will judge a team other than their own.)
(Conference will supply a chair per team.)
(ALL Knots must be square knots.)

Arm Sling
1.  The starting line will be approximately 25 feet from the activity line. Pathfinders #1-8 line up at starting line, and Pathfinder #9 (patient) goes to the activity line and sits on the chair.

2.  At starting signal, #1 runs to patient and ties a triangular head bandage, runs back to starting line and tags #2.

3.  Pathfinder #2 ties a triangular chest bandage, buns back and tags #3.

4.  Pathfinder #3 ties a cravat bandage for right leg, runs back and tags #4.

5.  Pathfinder #4 ties a temporary bandage to support a sprained left ankle, runs back and tags #5.

6.  Pathfinder #5 ties a sling for left arm, runs back and tags #6.

7.  Pathfinder #6 ties a cravat bandage for palm of right hand (figure of eight), runs back and tags #7.

8.  Pathfinders #7 and #8 run to patient and, by the two-man carry, transport patient to finish line.

Scoring:            Emphasis is on quality work and safety.  Check your First Aid books for bandaging techniques and details.

*You can make a triangle bandage by cutting diagonally a piece of material 40 inches square. You will need six (6) triangular bandages.
